Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Skill India Campaign on 15 July 2015 in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched National Skill Development Mission and he say only education certificate not enough India need skill power.

What is skill India?

• ·         The Govt. of India set a goal  of skilling more than  40 crore people by 2022. In new policy of National policy for skill Development.
• ·         India faces  shortage of untrained and unskilled workers. A number of initiatives are motive to  developing skill and promoting entrepreneurship among youth.

The importants of  launch of the mission skill India.   India face  shortage of untrained and unskilled workers. In india  only 2.4% of the workforce in India has undergone formal skill training as compared to, 75% in Germany, 66% in the UK , 82% in Japan and , 51% in USA, , 89% in Korea.  Large number  of the educated section have little or no job skills, making them largely unemployable.  According to a report , more than 55  percent of the country's  population is below the age of 25 allowing it with an opportunity to provide a skilled workforce to fill the expected shortfall in the ageing developed world.

Skill India emphasises is to skill the youths in such a way so that they get employment and also improve entrepreneurship. Provides support, guidance and training for all occupations that were of traditional type like welders, blacksmiths, masons, cobblers, carpenters, tailors, weavers , nurses,  etc. More emphasis given on new areas like construction, jewellery designing, transportation, real estate,   textile, banking, tourism and various other sectors, where skill development is nil.
