The Government has initiated the launch of a national Multi-Skill programme called Skill India. This programme would skill the youth with an emphasis on employability and entrepreneur skills. It will also provide training and support for traditional professions like welders, carpenters, cobblers, masons, blacksmiths, tailoring, nursing and weavers etc. 

What is skill India?
  • ·         The Govt. of India set a goal  of skilling more than  40 crore people by 2022. In new policy of National policy for skill Development.
  • ·         India faces  shortage of untrained and unskilled workers. A number of initiatives are motive to  developing skill and promoting entrepreneurship among youth.


The importants of  launch of the mission skill India.   India face  shortage of untrained and unskilled workers. In india  only 2.4% of the workforce in India has undergone formal skill training as compared to, 75% in Germany, 66% in the UK , 82% in Japan and , 51% in USA, , 89% in Korea.  Large number  of the educated section have little or no job skills, making them largely unemployable.  According to a report , more than 55  percent of the country's  population is below the age of 25 allowing it with an opportunity to provide a skilled workforce to fill the expected shortfall in the ageing developed world.



Skill India is a campaign launched by NaMO on 15th July 2015 with an aim to train over 40 million  people in IIndia in different skills by 2022. It includes various initiatives of the government like "National Skill Development Mission", "National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015", "Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)" and the "Skill Loan scheme".

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) isthe flagship outcome-based skill training scheme of the new Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this skill certification and reward scheme is to enable and mobilize a large number of Indian youth to take up outcome based skill training and become employable and earn their livelihood.Under the scheme, monetary reward would be provided to trainees who are successfully trained, assessed and certified in skill courses run by affiliated training providers.

Key features of the PMKVY are:
  1. Standards- Training will be done against standards (National Occupational Standards - NOS and Qualification Packs - QPs for specific job roles) formulated by industry-driven bodies, namely the Sector Skills Councils (SSCs). Third party assessments for skill training will be done based on national (and often) global standards.

  2. Direct Fund Transfer- It will have complete transparent funding of skill training without any intermediaries with monetary rewards directly transferred to the trainees bank account. It will ensure financial inclusion with a provision of unique multi-wallet facility linked to debit card and accidental insurance. Aadhaar number will be used for unique identification of each candidate.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Skill India Campaign on 15 July 2015 in New Delhi. . This   policy driven approach to create self-employment for youth & women to  winwar against poverty & employment and improve  living standards of the people.

The main goal of skill India program to create opportunities for the development of the talents of the Indian youth and  develop those sectors which is unskilled. Its objective is to create employment for youth women & handicap.  Indiafaces  shortage of untrained and unskilled workers.

PM Modi say adding the training institutes in India need to be dynamic. Skill India emphasis is to skill the youths in such a way so that they get employment and also improve entrepreneurship. A place where you can interact Indian artisans at one place and purchase their products directly at very cheap rates, it is Dilli haat. Haat is a old version of rural market where in the villages people come and buy food, decoration items, clothes, tools, machines and handicrafts items and many more. Still these markets are available with modrenized culture. It was difficult for tourists to go in the every village to see their culture and to purchase Indian art and crafts, so govt. of India plan to open haat at all metro cities where people can come and meet artisans at one place and purchse the Indian handicrafts. Best thing of Delhi is that one gets every thing here which can be sold and purchased under the sun. Delhi has some of the best shopping malls in India where one easily spend the whole day roaming and shopping. These shopping plazas are also places to relax your self in the evening as some of the best eating joints are located in the shopping malls.

Convergence of various schemes to attain this objective is also proposed which is no doubt, the need of the hour.
Government, Academia, corporate educational institutions, Non government organizations and society should help the skill development to be the main focus for the economy to grow. The early development of skill in youth, as early as school level is very important to groom them for proper job opportunities. 
The training should be given in such a way that the youth is suitable for jobs in any part of the world. Today the world needs to give importance for all the jobs equally so that there will be balanced growth in all the sectors. Every job aspirant whether he is white collar or blue collar should be given training in soft skills. Soft skill is needed in every area, grooming, etiquette, hygiene, time management, safety, tolerance levels to lead a proper and decent life. Skill development along with the above mentioned grooming areas should reach the rural and remote areas. This will facilitate sophistication and instils the required levels of confidence among the youth. All this will help the individual to manage himself and his job most efficiently
